Assignment 1-Interactive Studies
Artist: Steve Mieszelewics , Alan Want & Nimrod Weis
Title: Interactive Projection Art on snow - Red Bull off the Planet.
Artist Statement: To achieve this spectacle a 21' inflatable sphere hovered between hits as proprietary software mapped 3D visuals onto the snow and sphere. Riders were tracked via an infrared camera as they flew through the air.
Year: 2010
Reflection: Melbourne-based installation artists ENESS combine the art and sport with skiers and snowboarders flying through the air.The projection mapped 3D visuals onto the snow and sphere when the riders were tracked via an infrared camera as they flew through the air. Most of the time people will think that sport and art are different category of subject.Sport always come to physical, movement and strength but art always come to mind, imagination and abstract.Unexpectedly, this interactive art showed us the perfect combination of art and sport. It let me realize that nothing is impossible within the power of creative. It definitely look more interesting and exciting after matching 2 subject together.Creative always bring us to another new generation, and that's a big impact when we fusing two different kind of subject together to produce a new interactive art.
Reflective Questions:
1.What attracted you to this place of interactive art in first place?
I was attracted by the idea of fusing sport and art together to produce another new form of interactive art.
2.How did you feel when you first saw this interaction art?
When I first saw this interaction art,I feel exciting and surprise , because that's a perfect combination of sport and art to form a interactive art.
3.What element/s made this interactive art successful engaging you?
The shape and colour that projection mapped on the ice when the rider flew through the air. The light beam and graphic motion mapped on the ice is just beautiful and cool.
4.What was the "wow" factor to you?
The wow factor for me is the combination of art and sport, the physical movement perfectly match with the awesome 3D visual.
5. If there is one thing that you want to add to this interactive artwork, what would it be?
I would like to add led light on the snowboarder, so that we can't see the motion of the rider. For example, the hip hop dancer always like to wear led costume, glove and shoes when they dance in the night or stage to show their motion in the dark.
